Brent Hemington

SHIHAN, 5TH DAN

Sensei Hemington started training at the CCRKC in September 1998 under the instruction of Sensei Joshi, Sensei Buret and Sensei Ming and thanks them for their continuing guidance. He was an active competitor in Karate Alberta tournaments in kata and kumite and then assisting with the coaching of our teams. NCCP trained, he continues to contribute to the club as an instructor and a coach. He further serves or has served on the executive of the Alberta Chito Kai Association and the Alberta Chito Ryu Karate Association.

His primary passion in karate is teaching, in particular helping younger students see the potential in themselves.

Concurrent with his post secondary education, Sensei Hemington worked in the Canadian Coast Guard at search and rescue units located across Canada rising to the rank of coxswain. He attained his law degree in 1983, has been a partner at a law firm in Calgary since 1994 and is passionate about helping people resolve issues.

He continues to play recreational hockey pending a call up to the Flames and continues to play guitar and sing pending a call for him to stop.
